RADAR was the Design Architect of 38 ground-up small lot homes in the northeast Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock. Working in collaboration with AOR KTGY, SALT Landscape Architects, and Deirdre Doherty Interiors, the site design carved out a shared, comfortable “central park” area for building community and echos the forms of the nearby foothills. Curbless, landscaped drive aisles take inspiration from the Dutch concept of woonerf or “living street” and capture stormwater in underground tanks. Ground floor retail spaces along the Boulevard encourage sidewalk activity and multi-modal transportation, connecting the community to bike lanes, public transit and an easy walk to the neighborhood's public schools.
