El Dorado ADU

RADAR worked with Placeworks and El Dorado to create pre-approved, permit-ready ADUs for property owners in this rural Northern California County. The 1,000sqft 2-bedroom, 1-bath unit will come in two styles: Cabin Rustic and Mountain Modern. Challenges for the team included designing a flexible unit that is not site-specific and the regions propensity to wildfires, which required special materials and detailing. This ADU prototype is a year-long effort, slated for completion in the Spring of 2023 and to be distributed to the public for no charge soon after.
