RADAR was elated to earn an Honorable Mention in the Low-Rise: Housing Ideas for Los Angeles Competition, organized by the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles. The competition found wide media coverage including in the LA Times and NYTimes.

In response to the challenge to imagine appealing and sustainable new models of low-rise, multi-unit housing, we proposed to convert two single-family properties into a total of nine diversely-scaled residential units, along with a ground floor neighborhood storefront space. Creating a pleasant, affordable, and appropriately-scaled mixed-use development for the surrounding neighborhood, RADAR’s main goal was to create a comfortable community with inward-facing entrances and shared areas for ample opportunities for personal connection.
