Libros Schmibros is an independent lending library and free bookstore in Boyle Heights. Over the past 7 years, the library has seen over 17,600 patrons and circulated tens of thousands of books, drawing in visitors through direct engagement at the street level.
RADAR designed its new location in a historic building on Mariachi Plaza, anchoring the design with a floor-to-ceiling “skyline” bookshelf. The interior’s sunset colors and iconic shapes champion the central tenets behind Libros Schmibros’ mission—through bold presence, openness to the community, and optimism about the future of the city.
