WEVR
2018TYPE: Arts
CLIENT: Anthony Batt
SIZE: 1,200 sqft
COLLABORATORS: Sigma (Structural), Innovative (MEP)
In our by now long tradition of working with creative people who have crazy ideas, RADAR was approached in 2018 by WEVR, a virtual-reality production company, with a very unusual ask. This company is run out of Dennis Hopper’s former residence in Venice, CA.
The double-height glass-ceiling in the home’s former garage was surgically altered to house a cutting-edge, room-sized piece of immersive technology.
In addition to leading the design process for the renovation, RADAR designed a custom enclosure for the experience equipment itself, creating a holistic, uncanny environment – the “lobby space” between the imagined virtual world and the quotidian.
